What happens when you say NO tv?

Happy July! The theme of our summer has been, "What Happens When You Say NO TV?"  We love t.v. in our family.  We watch a lot of it especially in the winter when it's nice and cozy to sit with hot drinks by a fire and while the time away.  Usually my rule in the summer is "No tv--unless it rains." Unfortunately, that line of thinking was backfiring because it rains a lot here in the summer too.  It has been an especially rainy summer this year with only 55 dry days to date since JANUARY!  After we returned from vacation in June we changed our mantra to--what happens when you say NO tv...at all.  I deleated all the "tv" and "entertainment" apps from the ipad--youtube, amazon, netflix...all gone.  We kept the tv turned off during the day and evening too.  The only exception is an occasional family movie night.
Since then, I've been collecting these little, but precious moments where we have experienced new things as a family, or experienced the wonder of nature around us, the creativity expressed by the kids and those little moments being with friends and family that are really what this whole life thing is all about.
